Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty is one of the most common cosmetic procedures done to improve the shape of your tummy. Women tend to gather a lot of lax tissue and skin in the lower abdomen after childbirth. No amount of exercise and dieting is able to get the pre-pregnancy look back. Abdominoplasty or ‘tummy tuck’ can restore the shape of the abdomen in these individuals. This gives an immense boost to the self-esteem and confidence of the individual by giving a positive body image.
The surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and tightening of the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall. The surgery is usually combined with liposuction to give better shape and contour to the abdomen.
This surgery takes approximately 3 to 4 hours and requires general anaesthesia. This usually requires 2 days stay in the hospital.
Liposuction :
Liposuction is used to slim and contours specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits.
Some people even though otherwise fit have a body with unattractive contours or unshapely body due to localized fat deposits.
Liposuction surgery can be used to treat these fat pockets localised to the abdomen, thighs, arms, hips, waist, back, chest, cheeks, chin, calves, and ankles. Liposuction can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures like abdominoplasty or a breast reduction.
This procedure is done under general anesthesia and requires a day’s stay in the hospital.
Rhinoplasty or nose surgery:
It is a procedure to improve the appearance of one’s nose. This gives a boost to the self esteem of the patient and improves the overall facial symmetry. Surgery of the nose can also be used to correct impaired breathing caused by structural abnormalities in the nose.
Rhinoplasty surgery aims to change the size, width and profile of the nose. It can correct any depressions, humps and tip deformities like large bulbous tip, parrot beak tip.
This procedure is done under general anesthesia and requires a day’s stay at the hospital. There is a dressing/cast which has to be kept for 7 days.
Breast augmentation
surgery uses implants to give larger fuller breasts. Silicone implants are inserted in the breast by small incisions and can be kept in the body for 10-15 years.
This surgery is done under general anaesthsia and may require a day’s stay at the hospital.
Breast reduction:
Also known as reduction mamaplasty, breast reduction surgery removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a more desirable breast size. It also gives relief from the discomfort associated with overly large breasts.
This surgery requires general anesthesia and takes 4-6 hours. It requires one night stay at the hospital.
Facelift:
Aging causes the face to sag and lose volume resulting in a tired and angry look. Facelift is a surgical procedure to improve the signs of aging in the face and neck like sagging wrinkles and loose skin. It gives a fresh rejuvenated look to your face.
This surgery is done under local anaesthesia with some sedation to relax the patient and takes 4-6 hours. It may require a day’s stay in the hospital.
Gynaecomastia surgery (Breast reduction for men)
Breast reduction for men is the surgical correction of over-developed or enlarged breasts in men.
It is done by a combination of liposuction and excision.
This procedure is done under general anaesthesia.
Laser skin resurfacing
Laser resurfacing is one of the newest technologies in facial rejuvenation. It can reduce facial wrinkles, scars and blemishes. Laser gives excellent control and precision.
Laser removes the outer layers of the skin or the epidermis layer by layer. This controlled ablation minimises hypopigmentation, more commonly seen in peels.
The laser beam used in laser resurfacing also heats the underlying layer called the dermis. This stimulates growth of new collagen fibers. As the treated area heals, the new skin formed is smoother and firmer and younger looking.
Laser resurfacing can improve minor facial blemishes like:
Laser hair removal
Laser is used to destroy the hair follicles and gives permanent reduction in the har growth. This takes 4-6 sitting and is painfree.
Scar revision
Scars are a constant reminder of a tragedy but many scars can be improved upon with regard to their appearances. In some cases, scars can be reduced and disfigurement minimized.
Most scar revision procedures are done under local or general anaesthesia and done as a day procedure.
Dermal fillers and BOTOX
Dermal fillers are used to rejuvenate the skin and help maintain its youthful appearance. Fillers are non surgical treatments that can smooth out facial lines and scars. Fat is a very good autologous (own body) filler.
Botox relaxes the muscles which cause facial wrinkles. It thus causes smoothening of the skin. Sometimes Botox is used in combination with a dermafiller where permanent deep lines have resulted from over activity of the muscles. e.g., frown lines on the lower forehead or wrinkles around the eyes and lips.
As we grow older, different parts of our body and face start to sag. But, gravity alone is not the only factor for sagging, the other culprit being loss of the ‘elasticity’ and the ‘tone’ of the skin.
(a) Surgical Face Lift : This is done to remove the excess of loose, sagging skin from the cheeks and neck. The incisions are made around, above and behind the ears. Skin is lifted from the cheeks and neck. The fascia over the muscles is tightened. Excess of the skin is removed and sutured in such a way that the stitch line is hidden within the hairline.
The surgery involves either a local or a general anesthetic, and takes three to four hours. The face is dressed with bandages going all the way around the head, and a small plastic tube may be left in the wound for 24 hours for fluid drainage.
(b) Non Surgical face lift : Wrinkle lines are infiltrated with dermal fillers to smoothen up the line & give a younger look.
Fat injection:
Facial fat transfer not only helps to augment the face, but also restores its youthful, full contours. The process of aging involves fat atrophy as well as descent of fat pads. Fat transfers can be performed to improve cheek fullness, fill in facial hollows or depressions, restore volume to the eyelids, and redefine the jawline.
This can be done as an outpatient procedure, and local anesthetic with light sedation is used. Fat is harvested from an area of the body such as the abdomen, hips, or thighs. A very small cannula is used for the fat transfer. Because the fat is your own body tissue, it becomes incorporated as living tissue and there is no risk of rejection. There is usually an initial two week period of mild bruising and swelling.
Scar revision:
Face and neck scars can be noticeable and disfiguring. Many people are told that nothing can be done to improve these scars. This is not true in the majority of cases. We offer a variety of scar revision techniques including Z-plasty, running W-plasty, geometric broken line closure, local rotation and advancement flaps, laser dermabrasion, etc.
Dimple Creation Surgery
If you want to add more attractiveness to your face then Dimple Creation is in for you..
You can have one side or both side dimples at your own choice.
Procedure takes only 1/2 hr for one Dimple & 1 hr. for both dimples.
Procedure is done under local Anaesthesia & you can go back home the same day.
Lip augmentation/enhancement:
Lip augmentation, or lip enhancement, restores fullness to the aging lips and provide augmentation to thin-lipped individuals. Since the lips are the central feature of the face they must be approached with the utmost care and finesse.
Temporary enhancement can be achieved with synthetic fillers but we prefer body’s own fat for a long lasting and better result.
A fuller lip is achieved with your own body fat or dermafat graft.
The surgery requires around 1 hr and is done as a day care procedure.
Hair Transplant
Baldness afflicts millions of men and women. Patients can choose to undergo medical management or have surgical correction in an attempt to achieve a more permanent improvement.
Hair transplantation involves moving the hair from the permanent zones on the back and sides to the top of the head in the form of grafts. As the hair on the permanent zone is genetically programmed to grow for a lifetime, it will continue to grow even though it’s been transplanted to a different site.
The procedure is carried out under local anesthesia and sedation. We use magnification during slivering(cutting) the graft to ensure least wastage and better long term results.
Microvascular & Reconstructive Surgery
Replantation(re-attachment of amputated body parts):
Loss of a part of ones body is highly disfiguring and debilitating. Immediate joining of the amputated part using microsurgical techniques gives the best hope for a disability free life. The amputated part should be carefully preserved and got to the centre within 6 hours for the best results. The amputated part has to be kept in a plastic bag which has to be sealed. This plastic bag needs to be put in another bigger plastic bag containing ice.
Restoration of circulation is done under microscope and good functional recovery can be expected in about 6 months time.
Cancer reconstruction
This reconstructive surgery involves the transfer of autogenous vascularized tissue to reconstruct extensive defects after removal of the tumour. Areas commonly reconstructed include the head and neck and breast. The surgeries commonly performed include the following:
Trauma reconstruction
Accidents (vehicular, industrial or domestic ) can result in loss of large parts of muscle and soft tissue. The decision to salvage or amputate a limb is very crucial. Specialised centres and surgeons are geared to save life and limb both.Advanced techniques in microsurgery help to preserve the viability and function of the affected limb. Replantations and revascularisation are done in vascular compromised limbs. Microsurgical transfer of tissue is done to resurface the defect with vascularised tissue and achieve healing.
Brachial Plexus surgery
The brachial plexus is the group of nerves which control the functioning of the upper limb. Unfortunate accidents involving the brachial plexus can paralyse the upper limb and create profound disability. We offer a variety of surgeries for the same including
Hand Surgery
The human hand is Gods greatest gift to mankind and is one of the chief distinguishing feature between humans and other primates. Even trivial-appearing hand injuries, if not treated properly can lead to serious disability. It is important to get treatment by a experienced hand and microvascular surgeon. Management of complex hand injuries, requires team work with an experienced surgeon, physiotherapist and rehabilitation team. Emphasis is placed on the restoration of maximum useful hand function. Surgeries include
Vascular Bypass for the limb(for diabetic foot & trauma patients)
Diabetic foot is a major cause of non traumatic limb amputations. The primary pathology is the diminished blood supply to the dista leg and foot due to diseased blood vessels. We augment the blood supply of the distal limb with a femoro tibial bypass which helps prevent amputations.
Cleft deformity correction
Cleft lip and palate deformity can have major psychological impact on the parents as well as the child. It can cause significant effect on maternal bonding. We offer total cleft management starting from postnatal counselling , presurgical advice, cleft lip and palate repair, secondary correction of lip and nose, and alveolar bone grafting.
